Legal Innovation & Technology

17credits required

The smallest concentration by credits, at seventeen. Its externship requirement is the most flexible in the school. It takes a credit externship, a non-credit summer placement, either LIT clinic, or a waiver if you are part-time and already working in the field. You take three of the four core courses, and two of those four run in spring only, so plan the order early.

What it takes

  • At least three (3) of the total four (4) core courses, as listed under the Concentration’s Courses section
  • An externship or clinical requirement that may be satisfied by: An approved, three (3) credit externship related to Legal Innovation and Technology though the Externship Program
  • An approved non-credit summer or semester externship in a placement related to Legal Innovation and Technology
  • Participation in the Legal Innovation and Technology Clinic or Online Dispute Resolution Innovation Clinic
  • An approved externship waiver for qualifying students as approved by the LIT Concentration Director, such as part-time students with a full-time position already relating to Legal Innovation and Technology
  • At least three (3) Concentration elective courses, totaling at least seven (7) credits, as listed in the Concentration’s Courses section
  • At least seventeen (17) required total credits from the approved Concentration and elective courses and the required externship by the time of graduation
  • Obtaining the Concentration Faculty Director's approval of the student's plan for completing the Concentration's writing/project requirement
